DEGRASSI JUNIOR HIGH SEASON ONE NOW ON DVD

This show is the best (bless Seth from NBC SPORTS for loaning me the DVD).

I have instant nostalgia because I used to watch this at my grandmother and great Aunt Arety's on Saturday nights in elementary school and junior high, plus my own junior high school memories.

The show is not a SITCOM, it's actually more like an afterschool special (the type of content), but more REAL! As the viewer, you are interested in these characters, they are not prototypes, but seem more genuine and that's what really makes the show special. The camera work and total production is very low-rate but it works. No this isn't 'THE BICYCLE THIEF' but then again it's not 'Growing Pains' but it is very cinema verte'-esque in some ways. I'd compare it with both Bruce Paltrow's shows 'The White Shadow' and 'St. Elsewhere'.

I watched an episode two nights ago dealing with teens shoplifting and when the friends who got caught, realized what they did was wrong and looked and smiled at each other (yes, now they are friends again and will do homework together) I got a bit teary eyed.

AWE WADE! Seriously, you gotta check it out.
