Yes, today I went to the local Starbucks, swallowed my pride and wrote/typed for over 4 and a half hours. (What determination/stupidity) This is my day off and I had to get some of these ideas down. (okay it's not stupid, WADE).

I ate a bagel with cream cheese from the place next door because Starbucks bagels SUCK!

Now it's time to clean my bathroom! WADE HAS FUN WHEN HE ISN'T working!!!!

Listening to Stern this morning and also talked to some folks yesterday at NBC about Johnny Carson. A lot of people liked him, but a lot of people also thought he was a dick. I was surprised about the 'dick' part.

Big deal, CORN MUFFIN I know. Who cares?

Well... it was the first corn muffin that I've had in a long long time.

I got it from the Dunkin Donuts/Blimpee's on 42nd and 9th. Another place I haven't been to in a while. And I don't want to bore you with my complaints but the small coffee with milk that I ordered was not very hot! It was luke warm coffee and it's very cold out. What's up with that? I'm getting very bitter lately I guess. Overall the muffin was fresh and stuff, and the service was excellent, but... come on, I'm paying a buck something for coffee, it's freezing out... MAKE ME A HOT COFFEE, OKAY!



(I just realized I could've just microwaved the coffee.)

VERY VERY COLD DAY AND GUESS WHAT?:

It is a sad day. Friday and I can't be with the sandwich I love.

Comedy Will Take Chances 'If It Makes us Laugh'

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The broadcast networks haven't had much recent success with comedy series because they're spending too much time "watering down" their shows for the audience and trying to "rip off" the competition, Comedy Central president Doug Herzog told an industry crowd Tuesday.

"Comedy is really hard," said Herzog, the featured speaker at the Industry Forum Luncheon series at the Museum of Television & Radio in Beverly Hills. "The process (of creating a comedy series) is broken at the networks a little bit. ... You have to know comedy. (At Comedy Central), if it makes us laugh, we'll take a chance on it."

Herzog -- who's responsible for such Comedy Central hits as "South Park" and "The Daily Show" -- also said that the cable network's late-night series "Tough Crowd With Colin Quinn" isn't necessarily off the air permanently.

"It's resting," he quipped. "We're contemplating bringing it back. There's a lot of value in what Colin built."

He added that if "Tough Crowd" were to return to the network's schedule, it might be a retooled version, with Quinn likely involved in the series but not necessarily as the host.

I handed over the money (I was hungry), "This is my last meal at THE BREAD FACTORY!"


And I ate that tomato omlette with toast and homefries and I walked outta there with my head up high!

I was surprised how much current music they played.

For the longest time I really didn't know how I stood on this issue but now I am 100% sure that they should ban smoking in Hoboken. My favorite pub with my favorite bartenders, and (more than a few) favorite patrons was awful tonight. I actually went outside to make a FAKE phonecall just to get air.

BAN IT! I FELL STRONGLY ABOUT IT AND WOULD HELP OUT ANYBODY INVOLVED IN THE CAUSE!

HOBOKEN, N.J. - Jane Betancourt dreams of arriving home from work one night not smelling like an ashtray. But she also realizes her job as a bartender depends heavily on tips from smokers.

A study this year reported that air quality in Hoboken's bars and restaurants is nine times worse than in those in New York City - which has a smoking ban - adding to the debate over whether New Jersey should ban smoking in public places.

Last week, New Jersey Breathes, an antismoking group, said 74 percent of respondents in a poll favored a state ban on smoking inside all workplaces, including restaurants and bars.

"It would be wonderful to go home at night and not reek of cigarettes," said Betancourt, who serves drinks at the Black Bear Bar & Grill, one of the Hoboken venues included in the study. "It saturates everything - your clothes, your hair, everything."

But Carl Chapman, a Hoboken native who lives in South Orange, wants the right to light up at his favorite nightspot.

"You spend your money, you should be able to be comfortable," he said. "Smoking a cigarette is just like having a cup of coffee."

The study, by the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y., used monitoring devices to measure the fine-particulate air pollution in 62 bars in eight U.S. cities. In Hoboken, seven establishments were visited, six of which permit smoking.

The best indoor air was found in New York and the worst in Washington. The study found good indoor air in Los Angeles and Buffalo, where virtually all bars and restaurants are smoke-free. In addition to Washington, it noted poorer quality in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Hoboken, with mixed results in Hartford, Conn., where a smoking ban is being phased in.

Each establishment was visited on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. The study was funded by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and the Flight Attendant Medical Research Institute.

"In a tough economy, no one should have to choose between a job and good health," said Tom Duffy, executive vice president of the American Cancer Society of New Jersey and New York. "New Jersey wouldn't collectively tell bank executives to just get another job if they didn't like smoke-filled offices. Yet that is the message sent to servers, bartenders and others who work in the service industry."

Tricia King, a hostess at the Black Bear, said her business employed high-tech filters that kept the air as clean as possible. But, she said, "you start to feel it after you've been there. It starts to burn your eyes. You don't notice it until you leave, the way your clothes smell."

"You do a lot of laundry," Betancourt added. "If I go to a bar in New York, as a nonsmoker I find it more enjoyable."

Many bar and restaurant owners are loath to alienate their smoking patrons.

"We tried it here, and no one sat in nonsmoking," said Rosy Concepcion, a waitress at Arthur's Tavern, a well-known bar and steak house in downtown Hoboken. "Everyone wanted to sit in smoking. The waitresses who had nonsmoking had no one at their tables.

"Some people don't like smoking, but some people do," added Concepcion, a smoker who is not bothered by secondhand smoke. "But a friend of mine works here, and she goes home and coughs and starts wheezing."

Yikes, yes! This is a great movie. Now that I live in Jersey, this movie only means more to me. The fact that I've bumped into Joey Pants on three occasions in Hoboken and all three times I've said, "I loved you in... Eddie and the Cruisers." I'm sure people tell him 'The Sopranos' or 'The Fugitive' but to me I'll always remember his as 'Doc' the manager/DJ.

The BEAVER BROWN band puts together a GREAT SOUND TRACK that should definately be put in my FAVORITE JERSEY PUB's jukebox rotation (note: Ed Jr, get with the program. OUT WITH the STEELLY DAN DRECK! IN WITH BEAVER BROWN AWESOME-NESS. THIS IS JERSEY, NOT ALBANY OR BUFFALO DUDE!).

It would be my personal dream to be in my favorite Jersey pub on a Saturday night with my friends, 'On the Dark Side' vibrating off the jukebox, and... Joey Pants enters the bar for a Bud Light wearing a white tuxedo and a Jersey Devils baseball cap.

A man can dream.
