WHY WADE IS SO AWESOME?

MY BOSS JUST CAME AROUND AND TOLD PEOPLE THEY COULD GO HOME EARLY BECAUSE IT'S BAD OUT (BLIZZARD FOLKS!).

(photo of me with Indian Elvis at the St Ann festival in Hoboken)

I looked at her and said, "I'll stick around, no problemo, everybody can leave, I WILL MAN THE FORT!"

She said "Thanks." But what she meant was "Wade, you are soooooooooo AWESOME!"

Enough said.

NOMAR, THE BIG BABY!

"HoHoKam Park, Mesa AZ: While Nomar Garciaparra was signing a few autographs after Cubs practice yesterday, he was asked if he was excited about finally getting a World Series ring. Garciparra replied "I don't want it. They can keep it." And he was not joking. " [Via Bostondirtdogs.com]

YOU DON'T DESERVE A RING, YOU BIG BABY!!!!

I am so happy this guy is out of Boston.

Good luck, Cubbies.

SHEPHERD'S PIE, HOBOKEN STYLE

pie
Yes, this was my first time. I was at my favorite pub and didn't want a burger.

I wanted something healthier.

It was very good! But not as good as my mom's. A little too meaty, not enough vegetables.

P.S.
The service was terrific.

THE ANTI-OSCARS TOP TEN

FORGET THE OSCARS-
HERE'S 10 MOVIES YOU SHOULD SEE IF YOU CAN FIND THEM:

My Anti-Oscars Top Ten of movies that I loved growing up.

10) NEIGHBORS
- Belushi is insane. One of the first rated R movies I saw on HBO.

9) Swamp Thing - Adrienne Barbeau in all her glory. I remember seeing this when I was 7, in the morning during February Vacation at my Aunt Dee Dee and Uncle George's. After we (my brother and cousin) watched the movie we ate Pilsbury Cinnemon Rolls.

8) Strange Brew - Rick Moranis is the man. I love this movie. I don't mind when people say I look like Rick Moranis, he gets all the ladies.

7) 9 to 5 - Good Golly Miss Dolly, she's great in this. But But But, Dabney Coleman steals the show. Another early 80's HBO gem.

6) Breakin - Innovative.
Saw this in Hookset, NH shortly before they tore down the movie theater. My Godfather Joe drove me, my brother, and my cousins Marc and Greg to this 'Citizen Kane' of cool.

5)Take This Job and Shove It - Sometimes I wish...

4) They Live - Roddy Roddy Piper is one tough S.O.B. who is out of bubblegum.

Watched this on a Saturday night in High School with my Grandmother and Great Aunt Arety. They loved it and so did I. (Arety used to always make me nachos in high school - they were also incredible.)

3) The Wanderers - Ken Wahl pre-Wiseguy.

50's nostalgia. Plus 'Meat' from 'Porky's' is in it.

2) Eddie and the Cruisers - No Brainer! This is why I live in Jersey.

The first time I saw this was 3rd grade, at our house. My parents, brother, cousins, Aunt Arety, all watched this movie. It was and still is... GREAT!

***1) Cracking Up! Jerry Lewis' finest performance (A Wade family favorite). Probably the hardest to find movie on the list, but... it made Papa Wade laugh hard.

(*** the most quoted movie in the Wade household.)

NBC SPORTS SUNDAY

My buddy Barry (The Magnum PI of NBC Sports) is not here today, but SETH is. Seth is the man. He let me borrow more of his 'Degrassi Junior High'

WEIRD DREAM

I HAD A DREAM TWO NIGHTS AGO THAT I GOT IN A FIGHT WITH... TOM PETTY

See we were younger (like in high school I'd say) and we didn't like each other. We were in this field 'OUTSIDERS' -style and bunch of high schoolers were all there, like in a circle. We start fighting... a tough battle, but I won.

Then I got over to him, he's hunched over and stuff in his bloody blue flannel shirt and I say, "Hey man. That's it. The fighting is over. Let's be pals."

But he wouldn't shake my hand, he says, "We'll never be friends, NEVER!"

Then I just sort of feel bad. I mean, I kicked his butt and all, but...

(WHAT A WEIRD DREAM)

DON'T FORGET THE INTERACTIVE BLOG QUESTION OF THE WEEK

LONELY FRIDAY!

Why you may ask?

Because I am working hard here in NYC and unable to be in Hoboken and unable to have an... ITALIAN TUNA SANDWICH AT FIORE'S.

(photo: Happier times)

Keep in mind, I am happy to be working. Money in the bank is nice.

But... I'll probably get a ham sandwich today at SUBWAY. There's a big difference.

I love you Italian Tuna.
I miss you Italian Tuna.

WADE TREATS HIMSELF...

...TO PANCAKES!!!!

'HARD WORK DESERVES REWARD!'

I feel so good (though... actually a little bloated).
I had pancakes today for breakfast. I decided to TREAT MYSELF!

No one else is treating me, so... I treated myself. (YES!)

The pancakes at Johnny's diner (home of the Sloppy Johnny - no joke) were awesome. I wish they could've gotten me a glass of water but... hey, you can't get everything.

Now it's back to working hard.

G'day!

I MISS WORKING WITH JOE...

... from Audience Security. Joe is the man! I hope I see him soon. He still owes me a free meal at Johnny Rockets in Hoboken (I haven't forgotten my friend).

Even though Joe is a Yankees fan (he has a Yankees watch that lights up), he's a cool guy.

(There's a rumor Joe beat me at arm wrestling. NO COMMENT! FYI: I can't arm wrestle for at least 4 months. No re-match. It's over pal. I'm done.)

BOB DYLAN IS COMING TO NYC!

BOBBY'S COMING BACK TO NYC!
Monday -Saturday April 25th-30th at the Beacon Theater - GREAT VENUE!
BOB DYLAN RULES!

Two years ago I went with my friend Janine and it was like GIANT AMAZON night at the HAMMERSTEIN in NYC. I couldn't believe how many tall men and women were there. I couldn't see anything. At least at the Beacon... I WILL BE ABLE TO SEE THE MAN!

And guess who we bumped into at the Hammerstein... the GREAT JOHN MARSHALL (Big DYLAN FAN!)!

I saw Dylan 4 years ago in New Hampshire - thanks to my brother Matty, who bought the tickets. That was an incredible show. The best I have seen. Not too many TALL people

(Thanks Janine Michaels for the info)

POOR MAN'S GUIDE TO HIPNESS

I just read this post on METHODSHOP.COM talking about new iPod shuffle FASHIONS (see photo)

And this morning on the NJ Path Train I saw this guy acting all cool and smooth with his iPod shuffle. A VERY VERY hot girl asked him what the next stop was... he took off his ear plugs and their eyes met. After a brief conversation, they got off at 9th Street and it looked like a love connection.

NOW! I HAVE AN IDEA!!!!
I am going to purchase a CHEAP SET of headphones and a pack of JUICY FRUIT. Oh, look out ladies of Hoboken. This stud (me) is here, he is hip, and he is cheap!

I plan on riding the PATH train with my faux iPod shuffle in hopes that some girl will ask me what the NEXT STOP is. MY answer will be... WADE-VILLE sweetheart. Wanna piece of JuicyFruit?"

WADE DIET IN LIMBO

Hit my new favorite diner this morning 'Johnny's' at 124 W 25th St. (aka the mystery diner).

Had a corn muffin and two cups of coffee.
I know, this is bad. Double bad.
What happened to the green tea / white tea (search).
I don't know. I am in a semi-downward spiral.
*Though I ate a huge salad last night.

Everything in moderation. I mean I can have a corn muffin once a week right?

HOW'S THE COLD?
Gonna take an Airborn tablet later on in the day. Still feel a little lightheaded. But I'm hanging on.

CELEBRITY SIGHTING: APOLLO CREED

Guess who I saw at Kinko's just now on 24th and 7th Ave?

Yep, Carl Weathers was there... making copies. No Dum dum, he wasn't working there he was just... doing his thing. He was making copies and on his cell phone.

I yelled, "Yo Creed!" But he didn't look up.

"You got the eye, the eye of the Tiger."

Still nothing. But a bunch of other people there starting looking at me like I was nuts. It's not my fault they were to stupid to realize Mr. Action Jackson himself, Carl "Crazy" Weathers was amongst us.

Too bad, so sad.

|

COLD UPDATE/MYSTERY DINER

Seriously, this AIRBORN tablets seem to be working.

The only thing is they give you a rush for like an hour and then you're running on empty.

Had a grilled chicken sandwich for lunch in this mini diner on 25th between 7th and 6th Ave (south side of the street). GREAT SANDWICH. I don't know the name of the place, Johnny's? Maybe?

But it was a big sandwich at $5.25. Yes, diner food, but somehow it seemed healthy.

Walking out of there I told the cook/waiter, "That was great! I'll be back!"

Bravo NO NAME DINER, Bravo!

SUNNY 'TANG' ISH DAY!

(Victor and "Mona" Lisa get some Winter sun rays, while Wade is stuck doing paperwork in the office.)

Hello from NYC.
A sunny day today. Feel better. Just had another AIRBORN (orange flavored). It sort of tastes like TANG. I love Tang. When I was in elementary school I would get home at three pm, put on Heathcliff (the cartoon) and have a big glass of TANG. Oh, the good old days.

|

February 21, 2005

A COLD IS COMING ON...

Hello folks.

I am home and not feeling too great. Think I got a cold.

Took an Airborn tablet thing. It helped for like an hour.

Making chicken and rice now with peas.

Trying to take care of myself here.

BIRD WAS THE WORD

Do you remember the 3 point shooting contest at the NBA All Star game in 1988?

My favorite basketball player of all time Larry Bird was incredible that year. I really miss those days. LARRY LEGEND FOREVER!

My good friend Dill up in Keene, NH (who used to drive me everywhere in his hot babe magnet car) still has this on video tape.

HOBOKEN MASTERPIECE!

"Marlon Brando's famous "I coulda been a contenda" speech is such a warhorse by now that a lot of people probably feel they've seen this picture already, even if they haven't. For all its great dramatic and cinematic qualities, and its fiery social criticism, Elia Kazan's On the Waterfront is also one of the most gripping melodramas of political corruption and individual heroism ever made in the United States, a five-star gut-grabber. Shot on location around the docks of Hoboken, New Jersey, in the mid-1950s, it tells the fact-based story of a longshoreman (Brando's Terry Malloy) who is blackballed and savagely beaten for informing against the mobsters who have taken over his union and sold it out to the bosses. (Karl Malden has a more conventional stalwart-hero role, as an idealistic priest who nurtures Terry's pangs of conscience.) Lee J. Cobb, who created the role of Willy Loman in Death of Salesman under Kazan's direction on Broadway, makes a formidable foe as a greedy union leader." [Via Amazon]

WADE SAYS:
I live in Hoboken and after seeing this movie I constantly see things that are... well... I'm waiting for Marlon himself to pop out of a pub and say, "I'm a lowlife stinking bum."

UPDATE ON WADE'S GREAT AUNT ARETY:

My Great Aunt Arety is doing well after her eye surgery.

My spies in NH tell me she went to the OLIVE GARDEN on Tuesday and had a bowl of 'VERY VERY HOT' pasta fagioli (sp) - the way she likes it!
and
Chicken Marseilles (though, the chicken was according to her... fatty).

Glad you're getting better honey. Have a great day.

GET BETTER TEDY!

Patriot Bruschi is hospitalized
He's plagued by headaches
By Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff | February 17, 2005

Patriots Pro Bowl linebacker Tedy Bruschi was hospitalized yesterday afternoon and kept overnight to determine the cause of headaches.

"After suffering from headaches earlier today, Tedy Bruschi was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston," the Patriots said in a statement. "He is in good condition and will be held for further evaluations. The Bruschi family appreciates everyone's concern, but requests that you respect their privacy at this time."

According to a team source, Bruschi was taken by ambulance from his North Attleborough home. Patriots spokesman Stacey James confirmed Bruschi, 31, will undergo further tests this morning.

Channel 4 reported late last night that Bruschi was suffering from "stroke-like symptoms" -- including partial paralysis and blurred vision.

GOOSE?

WOMEN 'GOOSES' WADE:

Today when I got off the NJ PATH TRAIN, I headed up the stairs, not as fast as usual. I was sort of going at a steady pace.

SUDDENLY!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Someone goosed my buttocks.

I turned around and saw a pretty, forty something woman, smile at me and politely say, "Hurry it up, hot buns." I smiled back and just kept walking up those stairs.

WADE, DOES THIS STUFF HAPPEN TO YOU ALL THE TIME?:

This has never, ever, ever, ever happen to me before.

Just went to 2 supermarkets and ended up empty handed.

Frustrated I went to Starbucks and got a 4 dollar mocha latte.

Now, I am into GREEN tea, but... white? I've never heard of such a thing. She said is was a spiritual beverage. DAMN! Now I need/crave the WHITE TEA!

So tonight I went out in the rain to... CVS and guess what? No WHITE TEA. You'd think CVS would have such a product, but no (though they had ALOT OF GATORADE THERE).

Now I must go to bed tonight without it. I am sad.
