FROM THE NY DAILY NEWS-
The players then changed into matching World Series Champion sweatshirts in the clubhouse to meet the masses. They were even joined by Martinez's tiny compadre, Nelson De La Rosa, but when the 28-inch De La Rosa attempted to board one of the vehicles for the parade, a Red Sox official told him he could not. "You're not tall enough to go on this ride," the official said.
Barry M.I.A day 2
Barry isn't around today again. Barry is a cool guy who I work with who wears Hawaiian shirts like Magnum PI. There's a rumor he is working the Elections, but should be back next week.

In other news:
I just ate a donut (free and a bit stale) and some warm cranberry juice (gross).
My sinuses (correct spelling) are bugging me.
Andrew 'THE' Finger is working today, he's a hard worker.
I keep having this dream that I'm still in college and there's a class I haven't gone to in three months. I get scared, run to the library and read the Boston Globe Sports Section. Then... I wake up.

Bill S. wrote this in his column and it made my day even better.
(part of SportsGuy's Game 4 diary):
"6:10 - Following a Ramirez single, Fox shows Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore wearing Red Sox sweatshirts and clapping excitedly. I wish I was actually driving the Red Sox Bandwagon right now, just so I could screech to a halt, whirl around, point to them and scream, "Get off! RIGHT NOW! I mean it! Get off! Move it! BENNIFER WHO?
Like my main man, NELSON! (in the red tux) He's a 'small' fan, but a 'big' fan who deserves the attention. Plus, Pedro loves him.
I just thought Mike Lupica's NY DAILY NEWS PIECE ON A-ROD was interesting.
Here's a few cool passages:
...A-Rod will be remembered for the way he finished these playoffs, leaving what could have been World Series runs on the bases in Boston, disappearing against the Red Sox in the last two games. Then, in what has to be called an unforgettable moment if not a defining one, he hit a ball about 50 feet against Bronson Arroyo, tried to slap the ball out of Arroyo's hand in what look like a purse-snatching move.
Finally, he stood on second base clapping like he was David Ortiz and had actually done something.
"I should have knocked (Arroyo) on his ass," Rodriguez said afterward. Very tough talk. Except that by the time Arroyo had hit the ground it would have taken the whole Yankee team and maybe a few cops to pull Jason Varitek off Alex Rodriguez.
Last night I went my favorite pub to watched the Red Sox and it turned in a who's who.

I was watching the big game last night at my local bar and was in the company of Nikolai, Sir Walter and Ed Sr.

We were enjoying the extra inninng battle between the Sox and Yankees but then this idiot who looked like 'Side Show Bob' got really drunk. He was yelling stuff like "THROW AT MANNY'S HEAD!"
Then some 'larger' drunk girl started going up to people introducing herself and asking if they were Yankee fans.
Nikolai told her he was a Met fan and she started heckling him.

News - October 6, 2004
Homemade bottle bomb explodes in Sandwich
SANDWICH Police are stepping up their investigation into a homemade bomb that was tossed into the path of a local woman's vehicle last Saturday.
Police Chief Richard Young reported yesterday the woman a seasonal resident was traveling with her grandchildren on Range Road about 3 p.m. when some teenage boys tossed the device into the road.
"She heard a loud boom and saw white smoke," Young said. No one was injured, and the boys sped away in two vehicles.
Officer Douglas Wyman recovered a 20-ounce plastic bottle from the side of the dirt road. What had originally been a Minute Maid Lemonade bottle was fitted with a black plastic cap and contained seven tinfoil balls about the size of a .50 caliber shot. Police believe the balls were made to imitate shrapnel.
The bottle may have contained black powder, smokeless gun powder or a powerful firecracker, police speculate. The incident could be a warning of more serious activities, they said.
"If we've got kids out there playing with explosives, that's a bad thing," Wyman said.
Under state law, throwing or placing an explosive is a class A felony with the potential for 71?2 to 15 years in prison. "We want to alert people because this could be the first step of something worse," Young said.
Anyone with information may contact police at 284-7777.

MATT WADE (ADAM'S BROTHER) RETURNS WITH A NEW ARTICLE ABOUT THE REDSOX
Not only is Matt Wade the best brother in the world, he is probably the most faithful fan the Boston Red Sox could ever have.
(He is also gets mistaken for Kurt Russell)
HERE'S THE LATEST:

(Matty)
RED SOX ON THEIR WAY
BY: MATT WADE ()
(ANAHEIM, CA-----) And then there were eight. With the long 162-game
regular season a thing of the past, the Boston Red Sox have made it to
the playoffs for the 8th time since 1986. Unfortunately, the last seven
have failed to give the Sox and their faithful the taste of a World
Series victory. Curt Schilling won the Series three short years ago, and
his goal for 2004 is to repeat that feat in 2004, leading the Red Sox as
ace in the playoffs.
"This is what we set out to do in February when we first reported
to Florida: make the playoffs and....win the World Series. I like our
chances," Schilling said today.
The New York Yankees are going to have their hands full with Johan
Santana, who in the 2nd half of the season was flawless and unbeatable
and had an ERA a little over 1.00. To advance to the next round, I am
glad the Yankees are facing him twice and the Red Sox are not. The Sox
will take their chances against the likes of Washburn, Lackey, and
Colon.
Tomorrow afternoon, the Sox open the playoffs in Anaheim,
California at 4:09. Schilling has been the second hottest pitcher in the
American League behind Santana and faces the 11-8 Jarrod Washburn. Let's
take this one game at a time.
The Sox have a better line-up one through nine than Anaheim.
Anaheim does not have two guys batting 3rd and 4th that hit 84 home
runs. In terms of pitching for tomorrow let's take a look: Schilling led
Washburn in wins, 21-11. Schilling had a 3.26 ERA; Washburn had a 4.64
ERA. Schilling started 32 games to Washburn's 25. Schilling had 3
complete games. Washburn had 1. Schilling was a horse in the regular
season going 226.2 innings, while Washburn went 149.1. Schilling allowed
82 earned runs. Washburn allowed 81. However, Schilling pitched more
77-plus more innings. Washburn had only 86 K's, while Schilling had 203
K's. Batters hit .239 against Schilling; batters hit .269 against
Washburn. Schilling allowed 35 walks, while Washburn allowed 40 in
77-less innings. The edge has to go to Curt Schilling tomorrow.
Schilling will go deep in the game, but Washburn probably will not,
based on data for the season.
If the Sox can win one in Anaheim, they come home to Fenway for two
to clinch the series. If they split at home, Schilling goes again in
Game 5. Tomorrow, get home early and cheer Curt and the Sox on to
victory. We could be in for quite a ride in October.
8th out of 12 teams.
NOTES:
I should have traded Nomar early in the season.
I should have listened and checked in more with my friend Seth.

"I Am Not Mark Twain" is a play about a married man's ridiculous and painful journey across the country to screw an ex-girlfriend.
A play written and performed by Steven Cragg.
Directed by Ron Lagomarsino.
WADE:
Last night I went to see Steven Cragg's one man show 'I Am Not Mark Twain'.
It was one of the best one man shows I've seen in a while simply because it was
-funny and original
-with a lot of real moments
-kept moving along, there was a strong story
-great energy
The show came from his heart and it didn't seem like he was trying to be cool or hip, he was just doing his thing.
Bravo Steven

FROM 'in memory of HUDSON'
I had a good lunch with Joe from Audience Security at Comedy Central.
We each had burgers and fries.
He had an orange soda and I had a strawberry shake.
My treat.
Joe, from Audience Security at Comedy Central.
(Joe is the man on the left)
Joe: "I can't wait to have the American Classic Burger, Fries and an Orange Soda."
Adam: "I can't wait to... pay for it."
(Why is WADE treating Joe? --- well, the Red Sox got swept by the Yankees a few months ago and it's time I paid up)
