WADE EXCLUSIVE: I AM WINNING MY BATTLE WITH MY SINUSES

Though I may look like a tool with this thing on my nose, I must tell you that it has really helped with my sinuses!

You can even see that I am smiling in this photo, it seems like I am very happy.

I actually think I look pretty tough, like a football player.

PITA PIT, NOT THE PITS!

I went this place called the PITA PIT a few weeks ago with my friend Emily. It was very good. I think it's fairly healthy too. And it's in NYC near the past station.

I had the chicken pita with light mayo and the special sauce.

The food has more taste at 'THE PIT' than the PITA GRILL, which is in Hoboken. The food there taste like bark.

Love ya, Pita Pit!

PEOPLE, SHOW JOHN MARSHALL SOME LOVE!

My buddy, comedian John Marshall (not the weatherman with the same surname) has created a new website.

Let me tell you a little about this guy:

-He was in the band 'WADE' with me.

-With his help I 'caught' the doody bandit red handed at my last job at Comedy Central (there was a co-worker who liked to show off his doody, and not flush).

-He likes Juniors cheese burgers

-Like Neil Young and Bob Dylan, He is a legend!

WADE DIET: IS TRAIL MIX GOOD, OR AM I NUTS?

Been eating the trail mix folks. Nuts, and raisins etc.

What I want to know, is this a good move?

Is this trail mix stuff good diet stuff?

Will I gain weight from trail mix?

I do enjoy trail mix.

3 QUESTIONS WITH 'BIG GERRY' THE BUSDRIVER

"Big Gerry" Goboleski III has been driving the Hoboken 126 bus for the past 13 years.

I caught up with him this morning and asked him a few questions.

1) WADE: Have you ever seen me running for your bus in the morning, and if so, have you waited for me?

'BIG GERRY': Oh yeah, like... at least once a week. Come on camper, get out of bed sleepy head.

2) WADE: Scallops or pizza, what do you like better?

'BIG GERRY': What ta hell is a scawlup? I am a pizza pie guy, my friend.

3) WADE: Ok, last question, who is the most famous person you've ever driven on your bus?

'BIG GERRY': Hmmmm, let me think. Danny Aiello came on the bus one time back in 92. I told him I loved him in Moonstruck. He gave me a big hug. But all in all, I think you are the most famous guy I've had on my bus. Yep, Andy Wade!

WADE: It's Adam.

'BIG GERRY': Yep, I love Hoboken!

(DRUG FREE) NOSE STRIPS HELP WADE SLEEP!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

That's right. I found another weapon against those terrible SINUSES.

NOSE STRIPS!

My co-worker Maria told how well they work. And though I may look like... kind of a dork wearing them (no photo available), THEY WORK!

"This is the real photo of my chicken parm dinner from last night." - Wade
(no reason yet as to why WADE put a fake photo of his meal on this website... developing)

|

WADE CAN'T HAVE CHICKEN PARM FOR 3 MORE WEEKS

With the new 'Wade Diet' in full effect (for better or for worse). Last night before my show I met up with my buddy Lonny, and I had GARLIC BREAD and Chicken Parm at this place by his apartment.

Now I can't have it for 3 more weeks, due to my rigorous diet.

DAMN!

MORE WADE DIET NOTES:
I ate this Special K diet breakfast bar this morning and it tasted like crap!

March 23, 2006

YET ANOTHER NEW WADE DIET!

MORE CHICKEN AND FISH
LESS PIZZA!!!!

PART OF THE NEW WADE DIET (BTW:there's no simple answer to a complex question - the question is in reference to WADE'S GUT):

-1 piece of plain pizza
-no chocolates, muffins or cake
-no fried food (unless it's chicken parm - Wade can have this once every three weeks)
-minimal bread intake
-don't over-eat! when you are full, STOP EATING!

BYE BYE PIZZA with the works!

EMAIL BLAST OF THE PAST!: THE GREAT JOHN CONWAY!

This morning I got an email from a former Latin Scholar classmate, former Little League team mate, and former restaurant ice cream scooper. My dear friend, Mr. John Conway.

This email made my month!!! Great to hear from you, John. I hope all is well with you.

----------------------------------------------
Subject: CLASSIC NOW
Adam,

I can't effing believe it! Congratulations! This is the single biggest event in Manchester sports history. Bigger than Balboni in '87. Bigger than Spanky Lavalierre leading Manchester Babe Ruth to the 'National Championship. Yes, even bigger than Mr.Nicholas stepping in for Tim Gonzales and leading Matey's to a 7-3 loss to the Paul Cassidy led Ferdinando Insurance Squad.

Seriously, that is awesome. I am very proud to say I knew you back when. I need to know how you dialed that in. I am unbelievably jealous. Write back someday perhaps and clue me in?

Congrats Again,

John Conway

And I am sad.

I don't want to point fingers at anyone, but...

I will GET to the bottom of it soon.

NICE TRIBUTE TO WADE AND HIS BELOVED SANDWICH OF CHOICE

This Jeff Heyman guy is a class act. You gotta read about what he wrote on his bog today.

Bravo indeed!

WADE SINUS UPDATE:
Feeling light headed, slept over 12 hours last night, of course I am back to work, but not at 100%. Way to go!

ST PAT PIX:
Coming when I get the time, really good stuff.

WADE DIET:
Due to my sinus problems, NO BEER and not much food, maybe I will lose a few pounds from my gut region.

WADE PUSHUPS:
Due to my lack of strength, I am back to not doing pushups.

WADE JUMPING JACKS:
Still on hold.

DONUTS:
Not eating 'em!

KIT KATS:
Had a few yesterday. I love those, found them in our green room and they had my NAME written all over them.

I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE... THAT GUY!

The guy holding up his finger. #1. That's right. Wade is #1. Especially after 5 Miller Lights.

Here I am at the local bar with (from left to right) bartending legend Ed C., Ed S. sr (aka Mike C. sporting his new hairdo - more photos coming soon),

and of course the first guy I met the very day I moved to Hoboken, the Ron McKernan (Pigpen) of Jersey City, Pat.

What a great St Patty's Day.

WADE MYSTERY THAT WON'T BE SOLVED: ITALIAN TUNA ON SATURDAY!

If you don't know, let me explain, my favorite sandwich in the world is the ITALIAN TUNA from FIORE'S DELI IN HOBOKEN (you can only get it on FRIDAYS!!!).

Now, I work long days Monday thru Friday and I am not able to go to Fiore's on Fridays (this makes me sad).

BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT...

Now, I've been reunited with the Italian Tuna! Someone, an angel, now saves me the tuna, and I get my share of my favorite sandwich on... Saturday!

I feel very special!!!!

Yes, pilot.

No Joke!

Lonny earned a big role on Tina Fey's sitcom pilot.

He shot it yesterday with some big stars including Alec Baldwin.

Lonny has been a regular on this site for a very long time.

(SORT OF) FAN LETTER FOR MY 'BASEMENT APARTMENT WRITING PIECE

FOLKS,
I rarely get fan mail (honestly)
But I got this email today regarding my
REALHOBOKEN.COM BASEMENT PIECE.

Thanks Rabbi, you really made my day. And you actaully provided me with a little Hoboken knowledge that... I didn't already have.

Bravo!
--------------------------------------------------

SUBJECT: YOU LIVE IN A CELLAR!

Yep, that is what we used to call the so-called basement apartment that you live in. When it rained all the cellars were flooded out. The water was real nasty and had these big brown things floating in it. Down on Jackson Street and the Projects it was like a lake when we had a lot of rain. Some of those so-called sewers were just holes in the ground and not connected to anything.

That factory on 2nd and Clinton, if it is still there used to be #5 school. Schools went by numbers back then. We used to see rats floating in the water, and yep, some were swimming. Hoboken was built on swamp land, well at least most of it. Those "Projects" used to be a dump site.

Have you ever thought of getting a row boat? But then you will have to take Coast Guard Classes in boating.

I haven't been in Hoboken in about 20 something years and the time that I did visit was for a short time. You are lucky that the owners don't charge you for a indoor swimming pool. I was born on Clinton Street between first and second streets many years ago. Over half a century ago in fact.

Try the boat thing and charge for rides,
"Rabbi"

WADE NURSES 2 BEERS IN 1 HOUR AND 45 MINUTES

Last night I had two beers.

Two beers in an hour and 45 minutes.

I guess you could say I nursed my beers.

The person I was with... easily outdrank me.

I feel... not so tough.

GUESS WHAT WADE LOVES: #24

Oh yeah, I love Drakes coffee cakes!!!

When I was just a little Wade, my mommy would get these for me.

I hadn't had one in years.

All last week I had them and I almost OD-ed on Drakes coffee cakes and my own nostalgia.

So I've toned it down and will just have them every once in a while.

I LOVE YOU DRAKES COFFEE CAKES!!!!!

JEFF HEYMAN SITE CREATED LAST WEEK A FRAUD?

Folks, I don't know what is going on. Last week I was very excited about my friend, Jeff Heyman's new website. But this morning I have learned that it could be a fraud.

THE FAKE JEFF HEYMAN WEBSITE?

(the new one)

THE REAL JEFF HEYMAN WEBSITE?

Are you confused? I sure am.

I will hopefully get to the bottom of this soon, maybe with an interview with Jeff, himself.

EARLY SUNDAY MORNING HIGHLIGHTS and HAPPY B DAY PATTY FITZ!

Way to go, Patty Fitz (aka Ed Shirak, Jr)

Last night's basketball game bar hop turned into a late night birthday party for Patty Fitz!

I conspired with Sir Walter to get a cake at the Malibu Diner in Hoboken, and we snuck the cake in the back door of our local bar (thanks Walt).

It was a chocolate chocolate cake and was very delicious.

POTENTIAL
BUZZ KILL OF THE NIGHT:
Yet another lady at the bar refused to believe I am actually on TV Monday Thru Friday. "You just don't look like TV material." were her exact, unkind words.

BERNIE SAVES THE DAY:
I didn't feel like even retorting to the young lady (since she is the 10th person to say such a thing in as many days), and I just nursed my... Miller light.

But meanwhile, my pal Bernie came to my defense and said to the lady... "Seriously, he's on TV, and he's actually pretty darn good. Now, getting back to you... you said you are.... unemployed?"

WADE: (nodding) I LIKE PEA SOUP.

CJ: YOU'RE GONNA LOVE THIS STUFF. LET 'S GO OUTSIDE TO MY CAR.

(OUTSIDE - CJ POPS TRUNK)

CJ: HERE YOU GO, SON. THE BEST PEA SOUP EVER.

WADE: NICE.

( COUSIN JOHN GIVES WADE A PLASTIC COUNTAINER OF PEA SOUP)

CJ: WAIT A MINUTE, LET ME GET YOU A PLASTIC BAG TO PUT IT IN, YOU DON'T WANT TO LOOK LIKE A LITTLE MISSY WALKING HOME WITH SOUP, DO YOU?

WADE: YEAH, YOU'RE RIGHT.

CJ: (CONFIDENTLY) OF COURSE I AM RIGHT.

(WADE STARTS TO WALK HOME)

WADE: (LOOKING BACK) THANKS COUSIN JOHN FOR THE SOUP.

CJ: NO PROBLEM, JUST MAKE SURE YOU HEAT IT UP, SO IT'S HOT, NOBODY LIKES COLD SOUP.

WADE: GOTCHA.

--------

FYI: SOUP WAS HOT AND AWESOME!

THANKS COUSIN JOHN, THANKS SIR WALTER'S DAD!

SORRY, NO RUBBER BANDS (SCALLOPS?)

My co-worker Brian, who is a good man, was looking for rubber bands this morning. I was not able to help him find them.

Sorry Brian.

UPDATE:
He found one and for no good reason he said, "Thanks for nothing, Mr. Scallops."

ANOTHER UPDATE:
I don't know what he meant by "Mr. Scallops."

WADE IS PROUD OF HIS PALS AT THE LOCAL BAR!

How can I not be proud of these guys?

FROM THE DESK OF SIR WALTER:
Last year two good friends of mine, Mike Coakley (aka Ed S. Sr.) and Nick Parente (aka Nick the Fish) told me they had decided to shave their heads on St. Patrick’s Day. I laughed at first since they are always joking, but then they explained it was to help raise money for a cure for childhood cancer through an event called St. Baldrick’s Day.

St. Baldrick’s was dreamt up by a group of business executives in New York City in 2000, who had been observing St. Patrick’s Day in the traditional way---pints at their favorite pub, with music and laughter in great supply. They decided to give their celebration a little twist and help young children diagnosed with cancer by recruiting volunteers to have their heads shaved in public in return for pledges of financial support.

(photo: THE FISH)

What began with a goal of “$17,000 on the 17th of March,” in five years raised nearly $7,000,000! The primary beneficiary of the event is CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation, the only organization of its kind focused solely on supporting life-saving research and treatment of childhood cancer.

After seeing the pictures of the event, I realized that not only was it for a great cause but they actually had fun doing it. My brother and I agreed back then to join them this year.

I am teaming up with Nick, Michael, Bob Shaw and my brother Jeff (aka THE ENFORCER) in hopes that combined we can raise $7,500 or more for this important cause. Our team name is “One ‘L’ of a Team”.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation by sponsoring me (and my teammates!) to shave our heads. To make a donation, and learn more about the event and the cause, visit www.StBaldricks.org, click on “Sponsor a Shavee” to submit a donation in my name, a teammates name, or our Team name (One ‘L’ of a Team) or call 888-899-BALD to donate by phone.

(photo: Mike C)

Join us at Jim Brady's Restaurant and Bar located at 75 Maiden Lane, New York, New York on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th, 2005) at 2:00 PM to watch as we help shave the way to Conquer Kids’ Cancer!

Sincerely,

Walt

THE STREET VENDOR WHO LOVES ME!

Today I went back to work after a week off. I went to the street vendor (Mo) whom I buy my coffee and juice from in the morning and...

HE WAS VERY EXCITED TO SEE ME!!!

"How was your trip, too fast, now you're back, hello!"
(as a line started forming infront of his stand)

"You aunt, is she well, she must have been happy to see you!"

Folks, I walked into work today and a few people were happy to see me, but Mo made my day!

Thanks Mo!

BTW: No charge today for the coffee and juice.

WADE VACATION: DAY 6 BACK TO HOBOKEN

THE CLUB!:
Last night my Aunt Susie took me to THE CLUB. It's the Country Club/Restaurant in her area (photo of me at the CLUB).

I must say it was AWESOME!

The salad was very interesting with yellow and orange/red tomatoes.

The main course was... YES, the prime rib. IT WAS fabulousoo!

For dessert we had this thing called the Obscene Chocolate pancake thing
(forgot to take a good pix of it).
It wasn't bad. Ok, it was very good. What an incredible meal.

HOW GOOD WAS IT ALL:
When we got home I felt like I was going to pass out. Too much good stuff in one sitting left me a bit light headed.

What a great last big dinner on the big WADE vacation 2006.

Thanks Aunt Susie for your great hospitality!

Now, it's back to Hoboken, back to business.

HAVE A SAFE FLIGHT:
MOM LEFT NAPLES TODAY, HEADED BACK TO NEW HAMPSHIRE.

TONIGHT:

AUNT SUSIE AND I ARE HEADED TO 'THE CLUB' TO EAT
(photos coming)

TAN UPDATE:
I still don't have a tan! It's been sunny all week and I still feel very white. I have been using SPF45 and probably spending too much time in the shade.

CHICK DRINK:
All week my Aunt Susie has been making me this great drink-
coconut rum
Pineapple juice
Dash of cranberry

I wonder if I could get one of these at my favorite Hoboken Bar?
