WADE SHOWS HIS SOX!

Of course. I will always be a Red Sox Fan.

Although a lot of people asking me how I feel about the Sox.

Well... I do have some good news for New England Sports fans...

WADE WAS JUST ON CHANNEL 2 NEWS!!!

I was just walking on the rainy streets of Hoboken (Washington St), and when I got home I had two messages on my phone.

I guess Channel 2 in New York had a camera on me (no joke) during it's weather forecast.

I was the lone guy on the street with the huge umbrella walking a bit hunched over.
I must be the luckiest guy ever.

And yes that's going on my TV Resume!

(Thanks Suzanne W. and the GREAT Teddy Coluca. - who unfortunately are not Hollywood agents.)

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL

Just saw the last 30 minutes of 'Rud'y on cable.

Man, 'Rudy' is the best! 'Hoosier's is great too, and so is 'The Natural.'

All these movies have one big thing in common.

I saw them in my high school Latin Class.
-Thanks Doc Hussey!

WADE'S COOKING CORNER: PITA BREAD IN STYLE

Yummy! Yes, these Sahara wheat pita pockets are nice. Been using them lately for sandwiches instead of Wonder White Bread.

Also sometimes when I have spagetti, I will toast these little guys (no more than 5 minutes) with a some sprinkled garlic powder and butter.

Very nice.

HOBOKEN MVP: TONY!

Unlike the Red Sox, Tony the Hoboken Ice Cream man came through tonight!

The chocolate ice cream soda was AWESOME!!!

And you drove through before 11pm.

Super kudos.

|

TONY THE HOBOKEN ICE CREAM MAN IS M.I.A.

Seriously, where are you Tony?

I'm sitting here and I am waiting. Boy, I could really go for a chocolate ice cream soda buddy.

Been waiting since 7pm, you gotta come down my block soon.

Tony?

Please. I need to count on you Tony.

ANOTHER GREAT MUSIC VIDEO FROM THE PAST

TONY CAREY's A FINE, FINE DAY

This song was on some video homage to the Red Sox back in the mid 80's for old timers day (I believe it was on WBZ). My brother Matt bought the full Tony Carey EP cassette because of this song. And I used to rag on him all the time because it was the only 'sort of' decent song on the tape.

This was always great ammo against my brother when we'd fight growing up.

"Maybe I am a chubby dork, but at least I didn't spend 7 bucks on a Tony Carey tape that sucks!" I would always say when I couldn't think of anything. This would really make my brother pissed off and I would usually run and lock myself in the bathroom right after saying it.

Matty, this one is for you! Thanks Tony!

A FINE, FINE DAY (the video)

BONUS
A FINE, FINE DAY
His appearence on SOLID GOLD singing it.
(listen to the clapping --- they look exhausted)

(FYI: Tony Carey is NOT 'Tony the Hoboken Ice Cream Man')

WHAT HAPPEN TO THE RED SOX?

Seriously?
There was none of this during the past weekend (see photo).
What a bad weekend for Sox fans.

WADE'S BIKE PIECE ON REALHOBOKEN.COM

Hoboken Hot Wheels
By Adam Wade

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
This past May I was walking around Sinatra Park and I saw this girl riding a bike. I fell in love at first sight. It was one of those nostalgic “loves.†Everything old was new again. I longed for it. I needed it. For the weeks to come I couldn’t stop thinking of that singular image. It had been so long. I had to have it. I had to get myself a bicycle.

click here to read the rest of the article/love story.

Now listen, I’m not a bicycle enthusiast. My knowledge of bikes starts at Huffy and ends at BMX (though one of my bosses used to call me ‘Cannondale’ for no particular reason). I’m just a fan of the old fashion laid-back bike ride. Imagine your grandpa going for a bike ride on a Sunday afternoon. And Hoboken is the perfect bike place for Grampa Wade – it’s mostly flat, not many hills. Not much sweating involved!

THE HUNT IS ON
So now I was on the hunt for a bike and it was more difficult that you would imagine.

First off I was on a tight budget because:
1) I just needed a leisure bike.
2) 2 friends of mine had their real expensive thousand dollar bikes stolen.
3) ‘Cha ching,’ I am not Rockefeller at the moment.

I hit the Hoboken bicycle shop on Washington Street and their bikes were moucho expensiveo for me. Starting price $250.

Then I hit a few run down ‘used’ shops on St. Marks in the Village, and didn’t find anything to my liking (three words: too much rust!).

WINNER
My luck faired better when I took a long walked to the Jersey City TARGET STORE and I bought the cheapest bike ($80) there –with a nice shiny blue paint job, and also bought the cheapest lock ($7). I rode out of there a WINNER!

Riding back to Hoboken I had a childish buzz. The wind was blowing through my hair. A big shit-eating grin on my face. Oh… this was the best day I had had in some time.

Near the end of this inaugural ride I saw Fred, my friend who works at NBC, walking his dog.

“Hey Fred. Look what I just bought!†I yelled proudly.

Without missing a beat, he laughed and said, “Wow, you got a girls bike at BJ’s?â€

Buzzkilled, I responded defensively, “I got it from Target, and it’s NOT a girls bike.â€

“Wade, c’mon, you got a girls bike.â€

I panicked, but kept my composure. “The guy at Target said it was… unisex.â€

He laughed loudly and said, “My ass it’s unisex.â€

3 DAYS A WEEK

Since I bought the bike I try to get it out of my garden apartment at least 3 days a week. So far, this is what I’ve experienced:

1) Dog owners love giving me crap for riding on the sidewalk. Perhaps some of them should focus more on curbing their dogs.

2) Hoboken delivery guys on their bikes always smile and nod to me (FYI: many of them have girls bikes too).

3) The bike is living up to the $80 price tag. I’m extremely afraid I will hit a pothole and the bike and its rims will break into a million pieces. I try to be very cautious.

IN CLOSING
Overall I am very happy with my new bike. I just sort of hope nobody else I know sees me riding around Hoboken on it. BUT if they do, it’d be great if they genuinely said, “Wow Wade, that’s a very nice unisex bike you got there.†Oh, that would make my day.
