HOBOKEN HERO OF THE WEEK - HALLOWEEN EDITION

Kudos Patty "Frogman" Fitz.

Pat is a great guy who is always willing to have heated political debates with drunkards on Saturday nights at the local bar.

I'm going to say he won the last debate because the person he was debating asked me three times what my website was.
[note: yes, that's how I judge debates]

He visits the site occasionally, and actually emails me when I have spelling errors on this site (though that hardly ever happens). Oh Patty Fitz, you are the man. He loves Sierra Nevada beer from the tap (not sure if this is right), that guy Steely Dan on the jukebox and I recently found out he knows alot about Red Auerbach.

HOBOKEN HERO OF THE WEEK

He came to Adam Wade.com, he saw Adam Wade.com, he talked about Adam Wade.com at the bar.

Yes, last week some guy at my local bar didn't believe that there was really an 'Adam Wade.com.'

But he checked it out the next day at work, and... he enjoyed it. AND FORWARDED THE SITE TO A FEW OF HIS FRIENDS (amen).

Congrats Brendan, on being the Adam Wade.com Hoboken Hero of the week.

A-HOLE ALERT!

So it's Sunday night and I'm going over a buddy's house. He loves PBR and I pick up a 12 pack for him at the Hoboken A & P.

I go to the '10 items or less lane' and the guy in front of me has a ton of stuff and he sees that I only have one thing (and that I may be in a rush).

WHAT DOES HE DO?

He goes on ahead and makes me wait.

A-HOLE!

If roles were reversed I would have let the guy with 1 item go.

THE FALL GUY, THE #1 TV SHOW EVER!

TV Intro Theme Song of the week...
'The Fall Guy,' which was was one of the most under-rated TV shows of its time.
IMDB.COM:
Plot Outline: The adventures of a film stunt performer who moonlights as a bounty hunter when movie work is slow.

WADE:
Colt Seavers (Lee Majors) was a stunt man / bounty hunter. This opening theme song is sung by the man himself. Heather Thomas is without a doubt my first crush. She was a great actress (also very under-rated). She also had a great Body Glove poster in the mid 80s.

I used to pretend I was Colt in my parents' family room, and I would jump from the LazyBoy chair to the couch.

Good Times!

Thanks Pope Fitz for emailing me this sad info.

NYTIMES:

CHELSEA PERETTI, QUEEN OF THE ITALIAN TUNA

My friend Chelsea (who went on the 'Hoboken Italian Tuna Adventure' with me), recently posted something very interesting about me on her blog (click here to see).
She is the first person to (publicly) call me 'THE KING OF HOBOKEN.'

Well, I want to make the proclamation that... CHELSEA PERETTI, IS THE QUEEN OF THE HOBOKEN ITALIAN TUNA!

The movie that started it all:

Check out Chelsea's awesome Variety Shac movies here.

Many people have asked me (3) if there will be a sequel to the 'Hoboken Italian Tuna Adventure?' Stay Tuned.

MY FIRST RANGER HOCKEY GAME!

My good friend Doug S. got me tickets to a Ranger game two weeks ago. It was awesome! I went with my buddy Lonny.

HIGHLIGHTS:
While waiting for Lonny outside of MSG I saw a bald famous NY Hockey Player.

I followed Lonny's food tastes and ordered HEALTHY and got a 'GRILLED CHIX SANDWICH and FRIES.'

Drank my beer with a straw.

"Mario" Crosby got the game winning goal for the Penguins with 3 seconds left in the game (6-5).

FAUX PAS AT THE LOCAL BAR

Tonight I heard, "Is there really an ADAMWADE.COM?"
Indeed, this question was asked at my local bar.

Well... the answer is YES!!! I hope the person who asked checks it out.

GUESS WHO CAUGHT ME SPITTING OUT A SHOT?

WHAT HAPPENED LATE SATURDAY NIGHT:
Someone wanted me to do a shot of vodka at my crowded local bar.
I said, 'NO!" Until I found out a really pretty girl would be pouring it into my mouth.

I took the shot. Turned around and... walked away from the excitement and secretly SPAT IT OUT!

Of course 'someone' was watching my every move. They knew the real Adam Wade. The guy who doesn't like to do shots when he has to work early the next morning. Why did they have to make me feel so LOW?

Can you guess who caught me?

Bernie?

Mike C.?

WADE DEBATES GOING BACK ON A DIET

It's been a week since I swore of dieting for the rest of my life.

I haven't been pigging out and stuff, but have been thinking about maybe eating less brownies, cookies, ice cream and pizza.

Also cutting down on beers.

If anyone has any great diet tips, let me know. Hopefully by next week I will see what I need to do.

R.I.P. LITTLE ALFIE

My grandmother's 14 year old, orange cat Alfie passed away yesterday, after having a massive stroke.

Alfie was a good cat who was friendly (at least to most of our relatives).

He was not 'little' though my grandmother called him 'Little Alfie,' he was about 30 pounds (at least). He adored my grandmother and my late Aunt Arety who both treated him like a king. He was perhaps the luckiest cat in the world to have them as guardians.

Alfie and I had a hot/cold relationship. Sometimes I made fun of him to his face and he'd sort of look at me like I was a jerk. I offered to buy him a 'kitty' treadmill in hopes to get him in better shape. But I also gave him a lot of kind attention, and told him once that 'he looked like he was losing weight.'

He was a cat who loved to eat human food. And threw up A LOT!

My grandmother claimed that he was a very smart cat and could open the screen door to her old house. I used to doubt that, but now thinking about, maybe he could.

Alfie had nice teeth, I don't know if my grandmother brushed them or what, but he had a nice smile.

This is the last photo I took of Alfie in August.

I will miss you Alfie, you little fatty. If there's a kitty heaven, you're certainly up there with Alfie #1, Zeek, RJ, Raisin, Peaches, Sonya, Kitchoo, Tiger, and Whiskers.

HAPPY BDAY VINNY FROM FIORES

I hate to do back-to-back tributes of hard workers in Hoboken but...

TODAY IS VINNY FROM FIORE'S DELI's 65 BDAY!
Vinny is the man!
Everytime I go into Fiore's, Vinny makes me feel important. If I miss a Friday there (when the
Italian Tuna is the special), he knows it! He's one of those guys who makes the world go round.

Vinny, have a great day. I'll see you tomorrow.

LIFE WITHOUT THE SOX IN THE PLAYOFFS

RANDOM SOX THOUGHTS:
It's very odd to sit at a bar this time of the year (nursing my beers) and not have the Red Sox in the playoffs. Especially living in NYC/Hoboken where I'm surrounded by Yankees and Mets fans.

Two years ago it seemed like I saw more Red Sox hats on people than Yankees/Mets hats combined. Now I don't see any.

I can't believe the Sox fired the hitting coach and the pitching coach but not the manager. That doesn't make sense to me.

I will miss Trot Nixon!!!

Sox in '07 or '08, or... 45!
